For the Love of Light
The trick with me is to get the painting out of my head and onto a canvas, one painting at a time, in a timely manner.
I like to pull subject matter from the natural world around me. The “Through the Trees” series started while I was living on Camano Island, Washington. I realized on Camano and in much of the Northwest you are looking at, through or around trees to the water or the light. I am once again living in Auburn, California, where I have kept a home for 48 years. Auburn is a historic gold rush town in the Sierra Foothills on your way to Lake Tahoe . The landscape here is different from the Pacific Northwest; a golden sunlight on gnarled oaks casting shadows on grasses that resemble old velvet fabric, deep river canyons that are dry and hot one one side, cool and green on the other, and rolling hills are all around.
I am always seeking a challenge, a new idea, and different perspectives. There so much to learn and to try, let's see where it goes!
